What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha encompasses the physical practice of yoga, or the asanas (postures or poses).
I like to describe Hatha as the umbrella under which all other yoga styles land. 'Ha' translates as SUN and 'tha" as MOON. Hatha creates profound balance and is a powerful tool for transformation. This asana practice was designed long after the spiritual practice of yoga evolved & was created as a way to help yogis more comfortably sit for longer periods of time in meditation
What is Vinyasa?
Vinyasa describes the uniting of breath with movement in a flowing sequence, using the breath to link one pose with the next in a step by step process. In Vinyasa (sometimes referred to as Flow) classes, you would expect a series of sun salutations and holding poses for much less time than you would in a strictly Hatha class.
